About
All things considered, it’s been a pretty good year for Burning Brooklyn.
Since coming together in October of ‘08, they’ve well and truly made their mark on the Brisbane and Gold Coast scenes with what might have seemed like minimal effort.
Truth be told, they’ve worked pretty hard over the past eight months. Their box of demos is now around 500 CDs lighter, with standout tracks like ‘Half Past Easy’ being spun more than a few times on Triple J’s Short Fast Loud. A gig or two almost every week, Burning Brooklyn have played a respectable cross-section of Brisbane and Gold Coast venues, from Rosie’s to Ric’s to Club 299 to the Hard Rock Cafe.
Influenced by bands like Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin and Saosin, Burning Brooklyn’s sound combines the guts of great rock music with catchy melodies, a recipe that has proved successful with a range of gig-goers. And while they’ve enjoyed a whirlwind of achievements on the back of their first demo, they’ve also been just as busy writing new tracks and experimenting with new ideas.
So it’s with a real sense of excitement that Burning Brooklyn release their debut EP, Where The Heart Stops. The six-track release (out now) brings together the best of the band’s repertoire to date. And if their tentative months are anything to go by, they’re not the only ones who should be excited.
